State Senator Andy Vidak Clashes with CFFA over Isadore Hall III Cover-up
State Senator Andy Vidak has come out and alleged that the California Fresh Fruit Association (CFFA) had help cover up threats made by Isadore Hall III, a member of the Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB). The Fresno Bee reports:
The dispute was ignited after Vidak said he learned from several sources that Isadore Hall, a newly appointed ALRB board member, threatened several members of the CFFA prior to a state hearing in February. Hall, a former legislator from Southern California, also allegedly vowed to seek retribution against the farmers for opposing him.
State Senator Vidak, who is a cherry farmer, filed an ethics complaint with the Senate Legislative Ethics Committee after Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León rejected State Senator Vidak’s request for an investigation into the threats. In his ethics complaint, State Senator Vidak alleged that Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León and some members of the CFFA conspired to cover up the threats made by Hall towards other members of the CFFA. A spokesman for De León, the CFFA’s leadership, and Hall have all denied these allegations. We will have to see what the Senate Legislative Ethics Committee determines after their investigation.
