Nordstrom Ridiculed for Selling Jeans and Jackets with fake mud on them for $425 a piece
The internet has been in a frenzy over a pair of denim jeans and a denim jacket that were being sold by Nordstrom. The major retailer was selling a pair of jeans covered in fake mud for $425 and a matching denim jacket covered in fake mud for $425 as well. The items no longer appear to be sold by Nordstrom, most likely due to the ridicule and backlash that the clothing items received. Mike Rowe, host of “Dirty Jobs,” stated on his website:
They’re a costume for wealthy people who see work as ironic — not iconic. Jeans made to look like you work hard so you don’t have to.
The clothing items were on sale at Nordstrom’s website and the denim jack was described on the website in the following manner:
Deep caked-on, baked-in muddy smears give you permission to get down and dirty from rodeo to grungy rock show in this cotton denim jacket that embodies rugged Americana, from its classic pockets to every crinkled and bleached accent.
This is not the first time, and probably will not be the last, that Nordstrom has sold ridiculous items. Last year, Nordstrom was selling ordinary rocks wrapped in leather for $85 each.
It’s hard to tell what’s worse, Nordstrom for selling the items, the designer for creating the items, or the consumers for purchasing the items.
