UC Davis has Program that Supports Central Valley Jobs
The University of California, Davis has a program that was created by UC Davis alumnus Chuck Nichols, who is president of Nichols Farms in Hanford, California. Nichols created the Central Valley Scholars program so that UC Davis students can either return to the Central Valley to look for a job or decide to move to the Central Valley to look for a job after they graduate. The program was started in 2013 and currently has about 25 students in the program. According to the Hanford Sentinel,
Mainly, students in the program are interested in agriculture-related fields, but is open to any student. The program basically puts them on a career track that connects them to Central Valley employers.
This program is great because it can give students an idea about the various jobs that are available in the Central Valley to hopefully boost the economy in the area.
